Bildungsroman - The name was inspired by at 20 minute digression on anime during a HIST285 discussion section. I decided on this name... well for one because I like esoteric stuff... but really it describes fairly well the overarching theme of almost all anime, in my opinion. Bildungsroman (definition) - A novel whose principal subject is the moral, psychological, and intellectual development of a usually youthful main character. Bildungsroman (etymology) - German: Bildung, formation (from Middle High German bildunge, from Old High German bildunga, from bilidon, to shape, from bilodi, form, shape) + Roman, novel (from French, a story in the vernacular, novel, see roman) Bildungsroman Updates GoTo Updates in the overhead menu for recent Anime updates. Sunday 2 August 2009 Today! Bildungsroman is renewed and released in Web2.0 flavour! I hope everyone enjoys the new features as well as the new PHP pages. I have cleaned up some of the style and layout problems from before and added things such as blog comments and searching. I know the search isn't the greatest and it is still in the works to fix up a few of the difficulties. I will continue to update the site and add new features, but until then please make use of everything else! Wednesday 17 June 2009 Happy First Birthday to Bildungsroman! It's been one year since I put up the first post. The site has gone through many new posts, additional content, even some redesign, and has also had some major "down" time when I was not able put up any new content at all. Today, on the birthday of Bildungsroman, I am very happy to announce the upcoming release of Bildungsroman 2.0! I won't say yet what is in store in the new release but get ready for Bildungsroman meets Web2.0! Sunday 31 May 2009 OK! So it's actually been a few months or more... since I've updated Bildungsroman at all =( But on the bright side of things I have more time now (for various good reasons) to update the site. I am hoping to put up more content regularly on the site so check for more updates throughout the summer! Saturday 18 October 2008 New Banner! And it's Shana from Shakugan no Shana! I was going for an Autumn theme so just kinda ignore the fact that she doesn't appear to be wearing anything... On other notes, going to be adding discussions in the Anime Updates about current anime related video games. I am also thinking of posting a few pix every now and then from an online MMO in the gallery section. Saturday 4 October 2008 I have just added the Top Anime page. While this is not exactly how I want it to look I wanted to put it up soon so that the page wasn't just left blank. I will be attempting to order the anime into more appropriate and useful categories later. Saturday 13 September 2008 Bildungsroman has "merged" with tensai-desu! In a generous offer by the host of tensai-desu, Bildungsroman has moved away from the crap that is Comcast web pages and will now be updated under tensai-desu.org/bildungsroman. Thank you to the host of tensai-desu! Note Bildungsroman will still be updated independently. Friday 12 September 2008 New layout, new code, multibrowser consistency, and best of all... a new banner!! Anyway... I've taken out alot of the strange sidebar pictures that I was previously using and added the new menu strip right below the banner. The new schema has been tested and is consistent in Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, Opera, Safari, Sleipnir, Navigator, and Genesis. Oh,... and the new banner girl is Haruhi Suzumiya! Monday 16 June 2008 yes... my "blog" on my anime obsession... Unfortunately I don't want to pay for a domain name so I'm stuck with Comcast which is one of the most annoying websites ever... I will probably redesign this website before long too... the sidebar is still bugging me. |
