This is an interesting little story about postal workers. These guys, called Letter Bees (doesn’t sound as good in English), wander around the countryside delivering letters and packages to clients. Sounds like a boring premise until you factor in magic, a gun that shoots fragments of your heart, and 30 foot armored beetles.

It’s a pretty show, with the exception of the CG beetles.

I’m a little sad to say that the second episode of Nyan Koi was not quite as good as the first one. Then again, that shouldn’t be too surprising as your average high school comedy anime is going to have it’s ups and downs. Gotta take the bad with the good here.

As you can see, the character designs and art level leave something to be desired. It’s not a total deal breaker, but it does detract from the series.

When I found out that Kimi ni Todoke was done by Production I.G., I was a bit surprised. The art work and story didn’t seem like something that Production I.G. would work on given the fact that the last two Production I.G. shows I saw were Eden of the East and G.I.T.S. Both of those shows were awesome, and it looks like that awesomeness is going to carry over to Kimi ni Todoke as the first episode shows a lot of promise.

I feel a lot dumber after watching that episode. Sora no Otoshimono is just dreadful. I’ve read some people compare it to Ah! My Goddess, but in my opinion that is blasphemy. Sure, in both animes a female goddess/angel fall from the sky and into the lap of a young man, but the similarities end there. At least Keiichi was a nice guy. At least Belladandy wasn’t a generically designed piece of fanservice. At least AMG was worth watching.

Things would be different if SnO was done as a parody, or had legitimately funny moments. While the first episode produces a few laughs, the smile is quickly wiped off your face once you see exactly how the producers want this show to play out.

Kobato tells the story of a girl who comes to earth to have a wish granted. In order to have her wish granted, she must cure broken hearts and fill up a bottle with “heart fragments”. Kobato’s wish is to go visit a certain place. Pretty vague but I guess what ever floats your boat.

I have to say, I’m a bit disappointed with this episode. The Book of Bantorra looked to be a really interesting series, and while the plot looks interesting, the first episode didn’t really capture my attention. The series does show promise however, and I am looking forward to see where the story goes from here.

I now present the second new show of the fall season: Nyan Koi! Translated by gg fansubs as “Mewwuv”, Nyan Koi tells the story of a high school kid who gains the ability to interact with cats after accidentally beheading a holy cat idol. Not necessarily a bad talent until you consider the fact that if he doesn’t commit 100 good acts that benefit cats, he’ll turn into one himself. Also, he’s deathly allergic to them.

First show of the new season is (drum-roll please) The Sacred Blacksmith! My first impression is that it’s an average fantasy series involving swords and sorcery with a touch of love-comedy thrown in as comic relief. The first episode doesn’t introduce the viewer to any groundbreaking ideas, but instead opts to stick to genre conventions and deliver an average story.
![[gg]_The_Sacred_Blacksmith_-_01_[DE136632].mkv.030 [gg]_The_Sacred_Blacksmith_-_01_[DE136632].mkv.030](http://tensai-desu.org/mcb/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/gg_The_Sacred_Blacksmith_-_01_DE136632.mkv.030.jpg)
You’re mileage may vary though. It’s not a series that I’d look forward to each week, but instead is something I’d consider downloading and saving so that I could watch it at my own pace.
