Shigofumi is one of the most original animes I’ve seen in sometime. It is also one of the most serious animes I’ve ever seen. The basic premise is this: After a person dies, they are given a chance to send a letter to one person that they knew during their lives. That person could be a family member, a friend, or even a pet. The messages, called Shigofumi, are born out of intense emotions that could not be expressed before the person died.

It would seem that the afterlife’s postal service makes a policy of only hiring young women to be their postal workers. Worry not though, this is not a moe series at all.

Finished this short 11 episode series in about two weeks time. I really liked the first season of Nodame Cantabile, and the Paris-hen continuation didn’t disappoint. It’s a nice, slow-paced story, although I was a little disappointed with its length. It would have been a lot better if they could have thrown an extra episode or two in, but hopefully they’ll see fit to make another sequel.

I actually finished episode 11 about a week ago, but was too lazy to actually put a post up about it. Sorry guys! The series overall was good, but I take issue with the ending. Given the speed at which the series progressed, the fact that the ending felt a little bit rushed should not come as a surprise. All that said, the show was entertaining.

I’ve got to give the show props on the concept and the characters. The RideBack idea was really neat, and Rin worked really well as a main character. As an added bonus, her “RideBack Ballet” always proved entertaining.

Well well well, ToraDora managed to surprise me. While the first four episodes left me with a somewhat bland taste in my mouth, the series quickly picked up from there. All things considered, I really enjoyed ToraDora. It had an interesting story that kept me guessing as to what was going to happen next, it had good characters, and most importantly, it did not (in my opinion) take the stereotypical High School drama route. There were no harems. There was no arbitrary co-habitation. Nice.

I really enjoyed Kannagi. It was funny, it was entertaining, and it even managed to include a little bit of drama. Overall, the series felt and excelled as a comedy. Nagi’s antics and facial expressions were priceless, and the art club’s dynamic members ensured that the viewer rarely encountered a dull moment.

Right. On to the review then!

This episode should be titled, “The Adventures of Captain Itsuki, the Galaxy’s most Maladroit Operative”. Strangely enough, this episode actually had some things going for it in my opinion, so for once I actually have a few nice things to say about this series.

Akiha is finally showing some backbone. Attagirl!

I just finished the 12th and final episode of Onegai Sensei. I’m going to have to take back a few of the statements I made earlier about the series because the story took a turn for the worst right after I opened my mouth. I won’t bash the Onegai Sensei too much (ok maybe I will), but for everything that I liked about it, there seemed to be two things I didn’t.
Now then, lets take a more in-depth look at the series, shall we?

It’s time for another wonderful episode of Sora o Kakeru Shoujo! This episode finds Akiha being strung along by various parties, to various exotic locales such as an over-the-top student council room, an alien spaceship, and the vast expanses of space! Oh boy!
We also get treated to a healthy dose of fanservice, so worry not! If you should be so interested, follow through for some in depth analysis and the ever present screencaps!

And seriously, does EVERYONE’S spacesuit have to be designed like that? Thank goodness we haven’t been introduced to any male astronauts yet. Who the hell is in charge of this stuff anyway? There’s gotta be some law against letting loli characters donning the same suits as the everyone else. There should be a law at least.

Kurenai is a lot like Dennou Coil in that it’s a relatively unknown series that deserves some time in the spot light. The story was excellent, the characters were interesting, the voice acting was solid, and the animation was smooth (especially the fight scenes). The characters were the best part of Kurenai- I felt a connection to Shinkurou and Murasaki, and felt a great disdain towards the patriarchs of the Kuhouin family.
Kurenai centers around a high school student named Shinkurou Kurenai. He works for a woman named Benika Juuzawa as a conflict mediator. One day, Benika assigns him to be the body guard of a young girl named Murasaki Kuhouin, the daughter of a rich plutocratic family. Shinkurou doesn’t know why this girl needs protection, but he feels sorry for her and decides to take the job. Little does Shinkurou know that by accepting the job he will be set off on an adventure that will bring both joy and sorrow, and put his life, and the lives of those around him at risk. Will Shinkurou be able to fight against the unknown forces that are hunting for Murasaki? Watch the series and find out!

After 52 episodes, that phrase has really become ingrained in my head-not that that’s a bad thing mind you. After all, if you watched all 52 episodes of Hayate no Gotoku [ANN] in a dark room close to the TV you could really damage your eyesight! (For the uninitiated, “Hayate no Gotoku o miru toki wa” is the start of a public service message featured at the start of each episode warning about the dangers of sitting too close to the TV)
Fifty-two episodes makes for a very long series, and normally I don’t watch animes that are that long simply because they are A) a pain to download and B) tend to drag on. While Hayate no Gotoku may have been a drain on my bandwidth, it thankfully never got old or stale.
