Kimi ni Todoke 13

January 7th, 2010

Episode 13 was uncharacteristically action packed.  In this single 23 minute episode, it feels like the plot was advanced by leaps and bounds- compared to plot development in the previous 12 episodes.  I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone who is planning on watching this series, so I’ll save the commentary for after the break.

Sitting through Sawako’s social blunderings has finally paid off.  In episode 13, she levels up considerably, finally realizing her feelings for Kazehaya.  This episode featured some pretty heated moments, and at one point I thought Kazehaya was going to confess to her.  It didn’t come to pass, but it feels like a major boulder has been overcome.

The other key-point of this episode comes when Kurumi is confronted by Yano and Chizu.  Chizu is convinced (and rightly so) that Kurumi was the point of origin for the nasty rumors that had been spread around the school.  After a little investigative work, the pair confronts Kurumi.  Not one to normally crack under pressure, Kurumi denies the allegations.  The episode ends when Sawako stumbles upon the scene and is told by Chizu that Kurumi is nothing more than a backstabbing, self-centered, liar.  The episode ends there, and we are left to ponder Sawako’s reaction.  I for one, am hoping she tells her off.
