Kimi ni Todoke 13

January 7th, 2010

Episode 13 was uncharacteristically action packed.  In this single 23 minute episode, it feels like the plot was advanced by leaps and bounds- compared to plot development in the previous 12 episodes.  I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone who is planning on watching this series, so I’ll save the commentary for after the break.

Kimi ni Todoke 08

November 27th, 2009

While Sawako’s feelings for Kazehaya continue to grow, she has yet to realize what her heart is telling her.  That said, she continues to make progress socially, as she grows closer with her classmates.  Ume Kurumizawa, a potential rival to Sawako, continues to deny that she has any feelings for Kazehaya, although everyone seems to think she is lying.  Will a love-triangle situation develop?  That certainly would be interesting!

The weirdest rumors seem to follow Sawako.  This one involves the theory that if you make Sawako smile, good things will happen to you.  Gotta love the SD work, keep it up Production IG!

Quick Update

November 9th, 2009

Since I don’t usually like writing a post for each episode of anime I watch (that would make it feel like a job) I’ll write a quick summary as to where I’m at in the Fall 2009 season.

I watched the latest episode of Nyan Koi, episode six, yesterday.  New dysfunctional characters are introduced to further complicate Junpei’s life- Akari and Kotone, daughters of the cat priest.  I forget which one is which, but one of them is attracted to men who suffer from misfortune (ie. Junpei) and the other is just your average tsundere.  Kaede almost finds out about Junpei’s curse, but thankfully disaster is adverted by Junpei’s quick wit.

I also had the pleasure to watch episode 13 of Bakemonogatari.  Unfortunately, given the fact that episode 13 was a web-only episode, it was not as visually sharp as the previous episodes, but was entertaining nonetheless.  I had originally thought that episode 13 was supposed to wrap up the Tsubasa Cat arc, but it appears that isn’t the case.  I also thought that episode 13 was supposed to be the last episode, but that doesn’t appear to be true either- ANN lists 15 total episodes.  I hope that Bakemonogatari makes it state side.  I wouldn’t mind picking up a DVD set.

I also watched the fifth episode of Kimi ni Todoke, which was a little disappointing.  My disappointment stems mostly from the fact that the episode did little to advance the plot- I felt like all Sawako did was putz around wasting time.  That said, I suppose that is exactly how you are supposed to feel watching the socially inept Sawako stumble through High School.  I am looking forward to seeing how the next episode goes.  The fifth episode ended on something of a cliffhanger, although I feel like the proverbial cliff here is rather short.

Lastly, I just want to say that Windows 7 is working very well.  I’m pretty impressed with how good it runs.  There are a few UI changes that took a day or two to get used to, but I believe the changes are for the better.

Kimi ni Todoke 02 & Kobato 02

October 20th, 2009

Since I’m pretty bad at writing reviews for each episode of an anime, I’m going to summarize my feelings for Kimi ni Todoke 02 and Kobato 02 in a few sentences.  Part of it maybe that I’m just not that good of a reviewer, but also I feel like I need a few episodes of development and evolution to really see if anything has changed.

Kimi ni Todoke 01

October 10th, 2009

When I found out that Kimi ni Todoke was done by Production I.G., I was a bit surprised.  The art work and story didn’t seem like something that Production I.G. would work on given the fact that the last two Production I.G. shows I saw were Eden of the East and G.I.T.S.  Both of those shows were awesome, and it looks like that awesomeness is going to carry over to Kimi ni Todoke as the first episode shows a lot of promise.
