The Almighty Collection

The collection more or less started in early January of 2007. The funny thing about my collection is that it shouldn't exist in the first place. When I started watching fansubs (anime that is subbed by fans for fans), I told myself that I'd never buy a DVD because I thought that they were overpriced and that only crazy otaku nerds did that stuff. Fast forward, thanks in part to Rick (a friend of mine who officially introduced me into the fansub world) and the anime series Ah! My Goddess, I made my first anime DVD purchase: Ah! My Goddess The Movie. After that it was down hill from there.

After that, I told myself (most likely because I was in denial) that I wasn't an otaku collector until I bought a model. So, as you can see from the picture, I officially became an otaku collector in late April 2007. My next set benchmark is set for when I actually have to buy shelf space for my stuff. I'm dangerously close, but I'll scrape by on the technicality that I didn't actually BUY the shelf space, it was already there.

All that said, I'm happy with my little collection. I essentially try to only buy stuff from anime's that I have already seen and really enjoyed. So far, the only exception to the rule is the Mahoromatic and Girls Bravo box sets. I can't really name a definitive favorite item, not only because these are what I feel are the best of the best, but also because my interests change over time. I've enjoyed all of the titles I have, with the exception of Girls Bravo.

Added the capsule toys + Samurai 7 Complete Boxset, the Suzumiya Haruhi and Fate/ Stay Night art books, and the fanart poster. All were purchased at Otakon.
